We’ve crossed into summer, and the fields are in full swing. The long days and warmish nights have everything growing fast, and each morning feels like a new wave of color and growth. We’ve crossed into summer, and the fields are in full swing. The summer annuals are settling in beautifully. Celosia is just starting to show its bright plumes, and zinnias—always the reliable backbone of our summer harvests—are beginning to bud and some are flowering.

Our first succession of sunflowers isn’t far behind. They’re reaching tall and strong, ready to turn their faces to the sun any day now.

Feverfew is blooming early this year, scattering its tiny white blossoms through the rows, while the carnations are forming tight buds and building up for their first flush. Phlox and yarrow are coming on steadily, and the amaranthus has begun trailing its tassels in that unmistakable way that signals high summer. The grasses are thriving, adding softness and movement, and both strawflower and statice are looking strong—colorful and reliable, perfect for drying later in the season.

One of the most exciting surprises this week has been the return of our overwintered dahlias. A handful of these early bloomers are already flowering—weeks ahead of schedule. They came through the winter beautifully, and seeing those familiar petals so early is a real gift.

In another corner of the farm, our new perennial patch is beginning to show promise. We planted astilbe, agapanthus, curcuma, and baby’s breath this spring, and some are already sending up their first stems. A few may make their way into bouquets later this summer in small amounts, and we’re already dreaming about what they’ll bring in future seasons.

The flower stand has been open since early spring and will continue through the growing season. It’s stocked regularly with fresh-from-the-field bouquets, perfect for last-minute gifts or a little pick-me-up for your kitchen table. We love seeing how many of you have made it a part of your weekly routine.

Starting in June, a few special farm programs are also coming to life:

  • Private U-Pick Reservations: Available beginning this month. Perfect for small groups, special occasions, or just a peaceful morning among the flowers. You’ll have the space to yourself, and we’ll provide everything you need for harvesting your own bouquet.

  • Flower Arranging Workshop: Our first one is scheduled for June 26. It includes picking your own flowers straight from the field, learning design techniques, and building a beautiful arrangement to take home. These workshops will continue through July and August—we’ll be sharing more dates soon.

It’s shaping up to be a full and beautiful season, and we’re grateful for every bit of it. Whether you’re visiting the stand, joining us for a workshop, or just following along from afar, thank you for being part of this little flower-filled world.
