Bouquet & Centerpiece Workshop
A morning on the farm — touring the fields, picking your own flowers, and learning to design a seasonal centerpiece you'll take home in a ceramic compote.
Part farm tour, part flower school, part creative escape.
This isn't a stuffy class with a grocery-store bucket of flowers. You'll walk the rows of a working Cape May flower farm, learn what's blooming and why, harvest your own stems, and sit down to design a real seasonal centerpiece — guided by the farmer who grew them.
You'll leave with your finished arrangement in a ceramic compote that's yours to keep. No floral tape, no YouTube tutorials, no "I should have done this differently." Just a beautiful piece you made with flowers you picked, on a farm where you spent the morning.
Limited to 12 guests. Intimate by design.
How the Workshop Unfolds
Farm Tour
We start in the fields. You'll see where everything grows, what's in season, and how a small Cape May flower farm actually works day to day. Ask anything — this is the behind-the-scenes part most people never get.
Pick Your Flowers
Grab your snips. You'll harvest your own stems from whatever's blooming that week — zinnias, sunflowers, celosia, lisianthus, herbs, and textures you didn't even know you loved. We'll guide you on what to pick and how to cut.
Learn to Design
Back at the workshop table, you'll learn the fundamentals of centerpiece design: structure, color balance, focal flowers vs. supporting stems, and how to build height without it falling apart. Step-by-step, at your pace.
Take It All Home
You leave with your finished arrangement in a ceramic compote — the vessel is yours to keep, reuse, and refill all season long. Plus the skills to do it again whenever you want.

From Our Workshop Guests
I came thinking I'd learn to make a bouquet. I left understanding how flowers actually grow and why certain stems work together. The farm tour alone was worth it — and then I got to keep this gorgeous compote arrangement I made myself.
My sister and I did this for her birthday weekend in Cape May. Hedy made us feel like we actually knew what we were doing (we did not). The centerpiece I made is still my favorite thing I brought home from vacation.
I've taken floral classes before where you're arranging someone else's flowers in a room with no windows. This was the opposite. We were literally in the field picking what we wanted, then learning to design with it. So much more special.
Small group, stunning setting, and Hedy's teaching style is so relaxed and encouraging. I'm already signed up for the next date. Also, the ceramic compote? I use it on my dining table every week now.
Frequently Asked Questions
None at all. This workshop is designed for complete beginners. Hedy walks you through every step, from how to cut in the field to building your centerpiece. You'll leave feeling like you actually know what you're doing — and you will.
Your finished centerpiece in a ceramic compote vessel. The compote is yours to keep — refill it with garden flowers, farmers market stems, or come back for another workshop and make something new in it. You'll also take home the design skills and flower care knowledge from the session.
A maximum of 12 guests per session. We keep it small so everyone gets personal attention during the design portion and space in the field during the harvest.
Guests must be 16 or older to attend.
Comfortable, closed-toe shoes — you'll be walking through a working flower farm. Dress for the weather and bring sun protection. We'll be outdoors for the tour and harvest, then under shade for the design portion.
The workshop goes on! In the event of rain, we move into our hoophouse and seasonal flowers will be made available for the design session. We'll notify you in advance if the format changes due to weather.
Parking on the farm is limited. Please plan to park along the street near the farm entrance and close to the curb. Be mindful of neighbors and local traffic — we appreciate your help keeping things friendly with our community.
Due to the hands-on nature and small group size, all attendees must have a workshop ticket. This isn't a drop-in experience — it's an intimate, guided session where everyone participates. But honestly? They're going to want to do it, not watch it.
Absolutely. The farm, the flowers, the process, your finished piece — it's all very camera-friendly. We just ask that you stay present during the instruction portions so you don't miss anything.
Because materials and flowers are prepared in advance for each guest, we are unable to offer refunds. If you can't make your date, please contact us at least 48 hours in advance and we'll do our best to transfer your ticket to another session, subject to availability.
