Over the years, many customers purchased ranunculus corms from us and while some had wonderful success, others struggled even after carefully following directions. Ranunculus can be a little fussy — especially here near the coast with our temperature swings and unpredictable weather.

Why Fall Planting?

One of the biggest misconceptions about ranunculus is that they should be planted in spring.

In our area, ranunculus perform best when planted in fall, allowing them to establish roots over winter before exploding into bloom in spring.

And believe it or not, while most people are thinking about summer gardens, flower farmers are already ordering next spring’s ranunculus corms.

That’s why preorders are happening now.

Many of the varieties we grow sell out quickly, and once we finalize our corm order for the season, we won’t be reopening preorders.
