A little allergy scare from my boys (yes, even grown children keep you on your toes) had me thinking about the wild genetics lottery in our family and the days when I could actually control what they ate. Thankfully everyone’s fine — and on the farm, we’re diving into wreath workshops, Black Friday specials, and the first big wave of ranunculus planting. A full, funny, very “holiday season” week here at Seashore Flower Farm.
It’s officially wreath season, which means I’ve been up to my elbows in evergreens .. and apparently, mild chaos. Between foraging cedar branches (and almost getting mistaken for a Christmas thief) and tripping over a crate of gomphrena in the studio, it’s been a very on-brand start to the holidays here at Seashore Flower Farm. But don’t worry, both the greens and I survived, and our fresh winter wreaths and door swags will open for preorder tomorrow.
Sourdough fever has officially hit Seashore Flower Farm — and it all started with Stacey’s gifted starter, a $35 Dutch oven from Ocean State Job Lot, and one surprisingly decent first loaf. Between feeding my starter, baking chocolate chip muffins, and prepping for our Winter Wreath Workshops, it’s been a busy (and deliciously scented) week. Plus, tulip bulbs are arriving, heirloom mums are still blooming, and our flower stand is brimming with fall color — Cape May’s version of cozy season in full swing.
This week, my son and his girlfriend brought their dachshund, Hughie - my trembling little grandog - to Cape May for a vet visit. Between barking fits, a farm visit from Hooked Up Seafood, and prepping for wreath workshops, it was another perfectly chaotic week at the flower farm.
